These are DWQR and Scottish Ministers’ main means of formally communicating with Scottish Water and local authorities, setting out regulatory expectations or guidance on specific issues. There are 3 main types of letter:

Public - These are letters issued to Scottish Water about the public water supplies in Scotland.

Private - These are letters issued to local authorities about how they regulate private water supplies in Scotland.

Regulation 27 - These are letters issued to Scottish Water concerning the approvals system for products and processes, administered for the UK by the Drinking Water Inspectorate in England and Wales.
